Ep 7: The Hardest Yes I Ever Said with Jerry Captain

Stories of Hope: Action Steps

  1. Get Quiet Enough to Hear What Is Being Asked of You
    • The pull Jerry felt did not come all at once.
      • It came quietly. Over time. In the spaces between the noise.
    • If you are facing a decision that feels too big— stop adding more noise.
      • Take a walk.
      • Sit in silence.
      • Pray.
      • Journal.
      • Get quiet enough to hear what your life is actually asking of you.
  2. Separate the Fear from the Answer
    • Fear will always argue for the safer choice.
    • Fear will list every reason not to say yes.
      • The finances.
      • The identity.
      • The uncertainty.
    • Ask yourself honestly— “Is this fear talking, or is this wisdom?”
      • They do not always sound the same.
      • But they do not always sound different either.
    • Take your time.
    • Get counsel from people who know you and love you.
    • And then trust what you know deep down.
  3. Count the Cost of Not Saying Yes
    • We spend a lot of time counting what a hard decision will cost us.
      • The money.
      • The career.
      • The security.
    • But rarely do we count the cost of saying no.
      • What will you miss?
      • What will be gone that cannot come back?
      • What will you carry for the rest of your life if you choose safety over the thing that is asking for your whole heart?
    • Count both sides before you decide.
  4. Trust That the Yes Will Be Enough
    • Jerry did not know how it would all work out when he said yes.
    • He still does not know.
    • He is still looking for work he can do from home.
    • He is still figuring it out.
    • But he is there. Every day. With Savannah. And that is what he said yes to.
