Ep 5: What Resilience Actually Costs with Jerry Captain

Stories of Hope: Action Steps

  1. Protect Your Anchors Like Your Life Depends on It
    • Because it does.
    • Whatever it is that returns you to yourself— the walk, the workout, the hour of golf, the quiet coffee before anyone wakes up—do not sacrifice it on the altar of doing more.
      • Put it in your schedule. Guard it. Ask for help so you can have it.
    • You cannot pour from empty. And nobody wins when you disappear.
  2. Let Someone See the Real Number
    • When someone asks how you are doing—try telling them the real number.
      • Not “I’m fine.”
      • Not “Handling it.”
    • Pick one person this week and tell them the truth.
      • “I am at a four today.”
      • “I had a really hard night.”
      • “I am closer to the edge than I want to admit.”
    • You do not have to explain everything. Just let one person know where you actually are.
  3. Grieve What This Season Is Costing You
    • Not just the big things.
    • The small ones too.
      • The career on hold.
      • The version of yourself you had to set aside.
      • The freedom you gave up.
      • The moments of lightness that feel so far away.
    • You are allowed to grieve those things and still be grateful.
      • Grief and love are not opposites. They live in the same heart at the same time.
  4. Remember Why You Said Yes
    • On the hardest days, the days when you do not know how you will get through the next hour— go back to the moment you made the choice.
    • The moment you decided to stay. To show up. To be the one who does not run.
      • That moment was true. It is still true.
