Stories of Hope: Action Steps

  1. Permission Statement
    • Say this out loud or write it: “Nothing is wrong with me. Something hard is happening to me. My job right now is to survive this season with as much grace as I can.”
    • Repeat it when the shame starts barking.
  2. One-Priority Rule
    • Instead of: “I must handle everything” Ask: “What is the ONE thing today that truly matters?”
    • Do that.
    • Everything else becomes optional, not moral failure.
  3. Ask-for-Help Script (when you don’t know what to ask for)
    • You can send this text: “Hey — my brain is overloaded. If you want to help, choose anything: a meal, a short visit, a prayer, a ride, or just check on me. I may not respond fast, but I appreciate you.”
    • You don’t have to manage your own support system.
